emails gone

this morning when i checked my emails, they were all there, this afternoon all my inbox emails are gone, all that happen inbetween this morning and afternoon was a virus scan (nod32) which reported no virus.
iam using thunderbird as a email client, any one any idea how to get them back

Unless they have been sent to a trash can then I doubt it.

If its POP mail then when you delete and empty thrash, and you have the option to remove from servers when deleted, then they are gone completely.

IMAP would be a better option to use in future intead of POP and can only be deleted if you give the order to remove from servers.

Unless there are backups generated by Thunderbird, then I have no positive answer.

Have you tried to retrieve them from a webmail client or other computer if the emails are sever resident?

it could possably be becouse the user profile has become corrupt

try starting tbird from the run icon

click Start>Run and type "c:\program files\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe" -p

this will bring up the profile manager and see if there are two or more profiles in there select the one you want to be using and tick the "dont ask at startup" option then click start Tbird and it should solve your problems.

First take a backup of your current Thunderbird data:

1) Exit TB
2) Type %appdata% into the Run box off your Start menu and take a copy of the entire Thunderbird folder (you may have to tell Windows to show hidden folders/contents)
