I ordered a Mac Pro today :) but delivery in 5 - 7 days :(

Which is the best email program? Apple Mail or Microsoft Entourage?

Why do Microsoft call it Entourage and not Outlook? I guess they do the same thing.

Can I import emails from Outlook to apple mail?

For a word and excel program, I guess that Microsoft Office 2008 is the best choice. I know people have been having problems with it, but the latest update will hopefully solve some of them.

Apple Mail

Yes, the same features

Export mail in a universal format and it's simple to import in Mail

I've had no problems, but yes, the official Microsoft Office 2008 app is the best for Word and Excel compatibility.

What spec Mac Pro did you get? :)

Apple Mail is the best. But I guess it is personal preference really.

Entourage is just the Mac name for Outlook, there are a few differences but they are essentially the same.

If it's exported as universal then it can be imported into Mail.

Office 2008 is the current edition but 2004 is just as good as can be picked up off of a certain auction site for peanuts.

Oh and good move on the Mac Pro. ;)

It's called Entourage because it's not Outlook - it doesn't have proper Exchange support and like most of the 2008 Office suite on the Mac it's pretty terrible.

I can't think of a reason to use Entourage over Mail.app - Mail is a nicer application to use, and if you need Exchange support then neither application can provide it properly.

I went for the basic (Not that I think it's basic) 2 x 2.8ghz (8 core) Mac Pro and I added the 8800GT, Airport extreme card and a wireless mighty mouse.

I will get the ram from somewhere else (Don't know yet) and I think I will replace the hard drive with a samsung F1, because the stock one is supposed to be very slow.

I feel like a little kid :p

The Samsung F1 1TB drive is meant to be one of the fastest :D

I too have been using Thunderbird for years. I did use Mail for a while, but upon a friend's recommendation switched to Thunderbird. Haven't looked back since!
