Embarrassing Gamer Confessions

Most of mine have been mentioned
  • Loved Dragon Age 2, I found no.1 quite boring.
  • Like to think I'm a very calm person, but at 1 point I nearly bit my controller while playing Dark Souls, I uninstalled it after that.
  • Baulders Gate 2, Planescape torment, despite multiple attempts, I have never played either game for more then an hour.
  • When the expansion pack Notum Wars was released for Anarchy Online, I would sometimes stay up till 4 in the morning, defending my organisations towers, my caffeine intake at work the next day was unhealthy.
  • Never got past mission 4 in Homeworld
  • Never completed a point and click adventure without using a guide.

I only recently forced myself to swap from cursor keys to WASD. Now I'm like 'OMG I can use my thumb for space bar!!'.

Also, I'm too much of a pussy to play scary games by myself. I'm surprised i could handle Quake 2 and Half Life 2 (Ravenholme was pretty stressful). Doom 1-3, AvsP 1, Resident Evil 1 - no chance. I actually feel genuinely better if there are simply some NPCs accompanying you (e.g. Doom 3 when you're with some buddies, or with Barney in HL), then get more scared when they leave - so dumb!! :(

I once got so annoyed playing WoW back in my addicted days on a 2% Illidan wipe for a guild (and second on server) first kill I punched my keyboard, breaking it, which enraged me further into punching my desk, which is cracked down the middle and broke 2 fingers, which enraged me further still to kick my monitor, sending it flying to the floor and also breaking.

Was highly embarrassed expaining that one to my parents who came running in the room expecting some sort of a massacre. It was midnight.

To make it more shameful I was 25, with a good level management job paying serious money and a long term girlfriend, not some angry teen :p:o

To add gaming injury, to real life injury, I had my fingers strapped for a bit and couldn't raid :p:D

Embarrassed just re-telling the story haha!

I get nervous before playing PVP Online games, so much so I prefer single player games...:o

PVP gives me shivvers :p

I used to love Quake 2 1v1 and would spend countless hours on duel servers. Problem was, I used to get so nervous I could barely keep the mouse straight. I should have been very good considering how much I played...and I was no pushover even when my mouse was shaking all over the place....but alas, I was destined to spend years as very mediocre. I always wonder how good I could have been if I could have only controlled my nerves. I only entered a proper 1v1 tournament once and it was ridiculous....it felt like I was having a seizure, heart attack and panic attack all at the same time. Needless to say I fell at the first hurdle.

First game I ever went out and got was parappa the rapper. I traded tomb raider and abit of money with the guy who had the local video/game shop.

I never got in to Follout 3 and Vegas, tried starting new game 4/5 times with couple months gap, but maximum I could do is 2-3 hours ;)

I used to stay up all night playing Quakeworld at uni and then sleeping during the day. I remember on my 19th birthday my dad came to visit me in my hall of residence but I pretended not to be in as I didn't want him to see I was still in bed (and room was probably a mess). He pushed a card under the door and left a bag of presents in the kitchen. So basically he drove 40mins or so to surprise me and I ignored him because I'd been up all night gaming.

Also went to a few LANs and lied to friends that I was visiting friends from uni. One of the LANs was in Sweden...

I played Minecraft (an private server ran by someone one here I think) a few years ago and stayed up until 5am mining for diamonds. When I realised I had been doing this for over 5 hours and had to get up for work in less than 2 hours I stopped playing, went to bed and didnt touch Minecraft for at least 2 years. Sorry Frenchtart - I think that was the person who whitelisted me on the server

I went to bed seeing blocks and my head was wrecked the next day at work...

I have recently discovered Minecrift, a Minecraft VR mod for Oculus Rift DK2 which is fantastic but only played it for 10 minutes. I don't dare play it because it is so good and will probably get hooked again

More recently - I was almost sick after trying HellWaltzer on Oculus Rift when hungover. Its a fun game to play with friends, to see how long you can take virtual rides when hungover or drunk :)

Need to try this. Not hungover though! I have not used my Oculus as much as I would like to, because it still makes me a little ill. I won't part with it however as I reckon it will have some value later on, and is still a fun party piece. I will also buy the final kit when it comes out, even if it still makes me ill.

Nothing else out of the ordinary springs to mind for me really, just loads of unplayed games on Steam. I keep meaning to play them, but then get caught in long sessions of FM/Civ/BF etc and never make time.

Try demos 'Laser face' and 'Discovering Space' (used to be called solar system explorer)

Both of these I get no sickness at all

oh, and also Summit_X_Snowboarding and The Mental Torment Episode One

I have spent thousands on virtual headwear for a certain game that I don't even play anymore!

Must . . . resist . . . buying painted guns for CS:GO . . . must resist...

Use to spend most of the night, every night playing Quake 2 duel on Wireplay. Was soo addicted to duel, it wasn't even funny lol. Played in quite a few tournaments, both online and at lans, at a fairly high level.

Did you play under the alias Widowmaker?
