Hi all,

I'm having an issue embedding an FLV video into my site. I'm using Dreamweaver CS3 and I thought it would be dead easy.

I copied the FLV video into the site root (I've downloaded a video from youtube to make sure there is nothing wrong with my file so I'm using that until this works). tThen pressed 'Insert', 'Media->Flash Video' selected the video. Looks promising in DM but when I preview the video in a browser, I get a white box.

DM creates two files when I do all this in my site root - 'FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf' (which is the player right?) and 'Clear_Skin_1.swf' (which is the playback controls style?). But does not create a 'Scripts' folder like one guide I read suggested it should.

I really don't know where I'm going wrong, can someone help? :)

Also, I really don't want to use any third party software to do this, just want to get this working as it should be easy :(

Thanks!

Thanks for reply,

Video isn't actually on youtube, I was using a video from youtube as an example.

Really don't want to do this either, I want to know how to do it for work as well without the use of any 3rd party software or a youtube embed code.

SWF Object :-

http://code.google.com/p/swfobject/

This will allow you to embed Flash video within DW in a fairly painless manner. SWF Object is the default method that Adobe now use within DW CS instead of the old method.

If you do look into it, I recommend the .AIR based Generator which can be had from the link above. Been using it for a while now and I've not had any issues thus far with embedded Flash.

Cheers, not to worry though. I downloaded a trial of CS5.5 DM and did exactly what I had done in CS3 and it worked perfectly! Just pinched the swf files and now use them in CS3 and it works perfectly
