Ok, so its not a complete emergency but i bought a gelid tranquillo cooler for my itx build on a ASUS p8h77-i and low and behold it doesnt fit due to components on the back of the motherboard. Pictures below show the issue im having and im wondering if our wonderful community can help me with their vast knowledge to know about the backplates :(

I was looking to have a budget build so i don't want to spend too much and i don't really have the space for doing modding as i have no outside space to do so at my flat.

Processor is only a G850 skt 1155 so i could get away with the stock intel HSF but i really want to have my server build very quiet.

I'm just typing more as my photos upload, i hope for your sake they are done soon.

Summary: spec me a HSF that has a backplate that will fit this board.

Thanks

Summary: A heatsink with a backplate will not fit that board :D

There are components all round the mounting holes so only something with push pins will work. An Arctic Cooling freezer 7 pro would fit the bill.

:( What has push pins other than cooling freezer 7 pro?

I will try stock hsf now and see how it goes i suppose

You can't overclock that CPU so you don't need mega cooling. If stock is too loud I know first hand the Freezer 7 is quiet.

I don't see the problem. Put a piece of material between the metal plate on the motherboard and the backplate of the heatsink, so the heatsink doesn't squash the mosfets.

A couple of 2p coins would probably suffice. With some electrical tape if you're worried they'll move.
