I am in vancouver at the moment, and I am absolutely loving it. This will be about the 15th time I have been here as I have cousins here and I used to come semi annually to ski/snowboard and have visited a few times in the summer and easter as well. I am visiting with children for the first time, and seeing things through their eyes is really confirming to me that I think this city is the nicest place in the world to live. At the moment I am sitting on a porch looking over kitsilano beach and the view is amazing, the food here is fantastic, the people are friendly and there is so much to do; sailing, Mountain biking, climbing etc and obviously all the winter sports in the winter.
Basically I would love to move here, what do you need to do? I believe there are a few people on the forum who have moved or have looked into it. I would consider changing careers if necessary, anyone know what is in demand in vancouver, or if there are any careers that help with visa application?

IIRC its the construction industry that is currently on the rise there.

Theres a few threads on here somewhere that already have information about emigrating there.

Have you actually spent time living and working there or have you just been there on holiday? Because that doesn't give much perspective, everywhere seems nice when you're just on holiday there.

My cousin is due to move back from Vancouver in the next few weeks having lived there all of his life.

He says two things - Vancouver is a fantastic, beautiful city with no shortage of things to do. However, it's also crazy expensive and the cost of living is significantly higher.

Ex-pat forums are generally very useful to give you an oversight of what to do, how things work, how much it costs, how long it takes, in-demand professions, citizenship rights, etc.

If you were serious about this I'd be surprised if you haven't already been on some.

British Expats is one of the best.
