I loved all of the Total War games, I mean, I worship them :D

However with Empire I'm really, really struggling to get into the game. It simply feels soul-less. I can't quite put my finger on it, perhaps it's because my commander, Monarch etc feels dislocated from the action.

I love playing the King, having him in the fight and really putting his life on the line along with the other generals, who you've built up over time into killing machines but with Empire the generals feel disposable and frankly I've played a lot with none of them leading my armies.

Empire looks stunning but I find myself still going back to MTW2 and playing the Stainless Steel mod :p Anyone else not getting into Empire the way they thought they would? Surely I'm not the only one!

PS as a side note - anyone know of any other good mods that work with MTW2- kingdoms and Steam? ;)

Unfortunately I never got into in a big way either. I get bored as most units line up and shoot and I find there isn't enough variety in the units to keep my attention.

I haven't gone back to it since the patch which messed with economy.

Once it's patched again I'll probably play it some more

well i enjoyed it. But i havent got into it hugely yet. I can't put my finger on it either but i reckon its probably just the age it is set in. No way near is enthralling or exciting as roman or medieval times.

Also i am waiting for the next patch before i play it properly.

Me. Played it a few times but haven't really cracked it. I quite like the game but I feel its too big a jump from the tutorials to the real game. :p

Perhaps when the next big patch is released I'll take a look at it again. :)

bought it, played it like twice, not played it since :(

I too think it's the age it's set in, I really thing that this kind of game is better set in the medieval ages, they would do well to create MTW3 and make it better :D

I don't want to really come down on Empire as it is a good game! I just feel that they've gone a step too far with so many territories and areas to conquer with the 3 fields of battle (Americas, Europe and India). I think it's suffering because of this, perhaps they'd have been better keeping those separate and having them as 3 distinct grand campaigns.

Anyway, perhaps someone will mod it to hell and back and improve it for those of us who struggled. It'd drop dead gorgeous after all :)

I haven't had time to get back to it so far. I got pretty ticked off when I lost George Washington and the entire USA campaign.

Exactly the same here , I love rome / medi , just cant get into this one

Got on release date, tried a campaign, map stuttered when scrolling so abandoned that ... so played a few battles which were fun until I started noticing a lot of annoying bugs with the AI like units not firing from behind walls randomly / units in square formations not firing for minutes at a time etc.. so gave up and will wait until either a couple of major patches down the line or the first expansion when hopefully all that crap is fixed.

I think for a lot of people its due to the age its set in , rather than anything inherently with the game. Luckily for me I enjoy the "napoleonic" era vastly more than the medieval or roman eras, so for me Empire is extremely enjoyable. I should add though that I dont play Vanilla Empire as its got a lot of problems, I play a very heavily modded Empire. Then again I always found all the past TWs were far superior when playing with a mod too.

To me m2tw still needed a lot of improvement. Id rather see, at least what in my eyes, would be a perfect/perfected m2tw. Actually i rathered mtw. Too many short cuts taken in empire, the fact there is hardly any unique units it appears is rediculas tbh. Countries dont ahve a feeling to them. Mtw/2 id play a country and really have set goals against those i didn;t like. I got to use new unist with most the factions in mtw/2 genearly. Though mtw2 ruined in in some sence that they made units like billmen useless. Really dissapointed, i loved billmen. Empire im just lost. I dont even understand the point of half the units when they all have the same stats but some cost more and the ones at the start are as good as the ones at the end.

The new system where your whole country can be raped by little armys jumping in and out your towns is stupid i think. I personaly dont like having to keep armys back that i can run around after a tiny army just to stop them killing my economy. Id rather have a garison to defend the keeps and send the rest out to war. Over complicated for no reason.

3 Theaters of war isn't so bad but the passages of just sea are rediculas, simply dont need and hard to keep track of i found. Also the theaters do not feel connected at all. Doesn't feel like the whole world, feels like im just fighting 3 fronts in totaly differnt areas.

Also i stoped palying due to totaly obserd bugs like ships randomly sinking and trade ships not working properly.
