Just rebooted steam and the latest update includes Shogun Total War 2 for pre-order and to promote this you can get Empire Total War for £5,

Bargain if you ask me

It is a 16GB download though, it may take a while, it's an estimated 35 mins for me

Cool, I didnt have empire yet.

Wait, but its not the GOTY version on discount, and you cant get the GOTY separately without napoleon? :(

I already have all the games except empire + shogun 2 though, so £39.99 for the whole lot isnt that appealing to me.

One very good deal.

Not really. I like Empire but it's still unstable and buggy as hell and they gave up even trying to fix it releasing Napoleon instead. Medieval 2 was the same. Creative Assembly certainly aren't getting any more of my money until they actually release a game that works properly.

where is this £39.99 pack? all I see is the £64.99 with shogun 2 pre-order..

Also I don't particularly like the pack deals, I usually (not always) find that the newest is the best to play through and playing the older ones I lose interest to quickly as they have less features/are less shiny!

I bought Napolean when it was on sale for cheap, didn't like it - but that could have something to do with lack of enthusiasm for the french perhaps...

This seems to get better scores, is it worth me buying?

Not bothered if it's just a fiver, I'm bothered whether it's worth my time, getting it for a fiver is a nice bonus of course.

Is it very different from napoleon or not I suppose is my question?

I played the original total war and rome, back in the day. Enjoyed the first one immensly, and rome was good too.

If you don't like Napoleon I doubt you'll like Empire.

The problem I have with them is there's no unit variety what so ever. Everything is just another unit of infantry with muskets with slightly different stats.

Thanks.

Yes, I noticed the lack of variation in napoleon too actually.

Must admit, it would have had to be very good for me to play it, as it can sap hours of your time and I want to play Civ 5 in all honesty, when I finish Two Worlds II(first play through) and quite a few other games. Not forgetting my little affair with Rift, and DC Universe after that.

hmmm I think I'll pickup the new Shogan then, when I'll have the time required to get the most out of it, and also if it's any good(which I think it will be).

39.99 for Empire, Napoleon, Medieval 2, Rome Gold and Shogun 2.

Its a great buy if you dont have any of them yet.

I've never understood the Total War series popularity. Medieval 2 was my first and last. The battle AI was just broken, I got tired of seeing it mill around unable to figure out how to cross a bridge, or just sit there on the ramparts in a siege getting mown down by my archers.
