Bidded on a new sealed copy on ebay of this, but if I won't win I may buy it for more simply at a shop, but I have a few questions regarding the game.

1:
Have the fixed the screenlock ? I have dual mons and nothing is more annoying than the mouse going off the screen or having to disable my 2nd mon with ultramon ?
2:
How is the game stability generally, are there many bugs ?
3:
How will it run on my spec ( @ 1920x1080)?
Vista x64
[email protected]
8800GTS512
6GB running at 800mhz 4-4-4-12
I want 20-25 fps min, preferably 30 ish on avg...
4:
How is it online, can you play the campaign online ? Do many people still play ? Is the game still supported well and patched ?
5:
What kind of goodies are included in the special forces edition? What does the box consist of ?

Thanks in advance ! I loved m2tw and rome tw, but haven't come around to buying empire yet due to dutch retailers taking the **** in terms of pricing, at various UK retailers the price is HALF of what it is here for etw: SF. But dutch maestro don't have cv2 numbers so I can't pay unless someone/thing accept paypal.

Well. I am not starting to play it till the next patch from what ive heard. I want as smooth an experience with it as possible. Amazing game. Shame about the bugs.

I have had the game since launch.

Screenlock is implemented.
Game is rock solid stable for me.
I run 1680x1050 on 4850 512MB and Phenom III 720 @ 2.8Ghz above 30fps.
Still many online

Not sure about the other Q's, will check later.

Considering how complex the game is, I think some are just being too picky. I have not noticed any of the so called "show stopping" bugs.

I've had the game since launch. It was a bit flaky to begin with but the patches have sorted most problems for me now. Late game it does get a bit slow for turns to process (although i guess the faster PC you have the less noticeable this is? I have a Q6600 @3.2).

I have the Special Forces edition and the units are ok. Before any mods they added a bit of variety. I have just downloaded a mod that adds 20+ new units which kind of replaces the need for SFedition now though.

Give it another major patch or two or wait until the first expansion and even then be ready to bury it in mods, much like all of its predecessors its not worth playing in its current state.

But what does the box of the special forces version include? Any goodies? Maps? art ?

I've tried the demo and it didn't run as great as I'd like in land battles.

I've increased my bid to 20 quid on the bay... Which prolly means I'll win it since it's available for 24 with free deliv to UK at a retailer.

I think the full game + patches is going to be better than the demo you have experienced Snow Dog. That said, people are still having issues with stability, bugs and the like. The sheer scope of the game means you are always going to run into niggles here and there - it's up to you whether you can handle that or not.

I still haven't got the game myself and I will probably wait until a Total Realism mod is up and running before I do.

In my SF box i got a map of the game world and the little voucher telling you how to get your SF units a small manual and the game disc. Stability is still an issue although much improved since the vanilla release but another patch will hopefully sort the remianig problems out. Sorry don't have dual monitor setup so can't help you with that.

Performance wise if you turn off some of the eye candy you should get acceptable fps with your setup. Havn't bothered with online yet and i won't until i have a completely stable game as bugs in multiplayer would be oh so frustrating so another one where hopefully the next patch will help a lot. Game does get slower later on and even on my rig in sig can take a couple of minutes sometimes to go throught the turn process.

Big plus point is the number of mods out there that really do improve many aspects of the game and a trip to twcenter will get you access to most of them with a little searching. Hope that helps you m8 :).

I wonder if they are still distributing the same demo that came out just before the main game release? If so then do not expect the game to be much like it. When the actual game arrived it was like playing a completely different game for me!

My copy crashes and glitches almost constantly, to the point I have actually given up on it. The patch has cleaned up some of the more glaring bugs but has introduced others which mess up the experience. Wait for a good few months of feverish patching before buying this

I just had a rather annoying bug where I had a save just before a certain battle and everytime I had that battle it froze a couple of minutes in so that I had to do a hard reboot.

In the end after 3 or 4 times I just keep my army sieging the town for the 2 turns needed and on the battle where they came out to fight it luckily didn't crash.

That was quite annoying and put me off for a couple of weeks. Other then that just rather low fps but I've turned quite a few things off or down to medium settings, it still looks good and now I get 25-30fps. That's with a 2900XT, E6300 @ 3.15, 3.5gb ram at 1680x1050.

As said above battle loading and turns can take quite a while, I've got a book beside me to read when a big battle is loading.

I absolutely hate what they have done with the economy side of things with the last patch has completely screwed the game. Stability is getting better but is still far from perfect tonight i had to lose a battle because one guy on the enemy side got stuck in a fence and the damn battle timer didn't work so i had to exit losing the battle .

yup. I am definitely waiting for the next patch at least until i play it. Bit miffed i payed full price for it tho

What is with developers releasing patches that break stuff more than they fix.

I enjoyed it for the first couple of days, and that was it. Can't comment on what it plays like now, I'm back to playing my heavily modded MTWII. Even when patched to playable levels, its still lacking on many fronts for me. Lack of papal shizzle to play with etc

Well I've bought it, buy it now thingy as got overbidded on the auction, special forces edition, payed £33,98 GBP inc postage for it, which is cheaper than the 50€ for the special forces edition or 45 for the normal edition in the cheapest dutch retailer.

Tho if they use royal mail it might take a long while, last time I sent something to someone in the UK he received it 12 bloody days after postage even though TNT post here said postage to the uk usually only takes 5-8 days :(.
Hope postage won't take too long, I can't wait to play it. Anyone know how long a postage from the uk to the nl with First Class Royal Mail PacketPost would take ?

If it's not any more buggy then medieval 2 total war v1.0 then it's no problem at all. I just don't want any major issues.

Usually over seas delivery takes 1-2 weeks.

Why didn't you buy it from your country?! I paid £33 for special edition when it came out 2 months ago! And to be honest, I only really bought it for the novelty factor. Btw I experienced more buggyness with ETW than M2TW.

As I said, the price.

The CHEAPEST dutch retailer of them all ( price comparison site) offers the normal edition for € 44,50. The special edition for 50€. The average retailer wants 50-55€ for the normal, 60-65€ for the special edition here.

Steam wants 50€ for the normal, and 59.99€ for the special forces edition.

Dutch retail prices are a rip off, and my maestro doesn't have a cv2 number, so I'm restricted to buying with paypal when buying from abroad ( I'd buy it for 27 quid otherwise from a certain uk retailer).

This has led me to this price, 34 quid, which is the absolute cheapest I can get the game for, and still a good 15 euros cheaper than from anywhere from here.

Well it arrived and:

Mouse lock DOESN'T work . My mouse goes off screen onto my 2nd screen instead of staying locked in the game.

The sound SFX are COMPLETELY unhearable unless you zoom right in .

The game crashed on start of my first battle on turn 2 of the 2nd part of the road to independence campaign. It didn't even get to the battle itself but crashed directly after the loading bar screen.

Anyone know how to fix above issues ?
