Just got the game, was wondering if anyone could give me any tips or advice when playing the campaign, I started off as the British, took over France but now there is a rebellion going on and i'm losing a ton of money.

Thanks

If youn play the british, get India first. Mucho riches to be had. And take out the carribean pirate bases.

I decided to own Europe instead :p Also very profitable although slightly more difficult to achieve.
I also made sure I was well ahead in military research so I would dominate in battles. For some reason the AI took over 50 years to develop bayonets which made melee fights laughable.

Rebellions weren't a problem for me. I let the rebels form an army then crush them in one swift move. Oddly after that the city becomes instantly content :p

Be careful though one problem with going all out offensive is that army upkeep costs are a b*tch if kept out of check and also the more land you get the more people fear you and declare war on you. I was at a point where as soon as I had wiped out a faction their neighbours would declare war on me. Make sure you don't have to fight a war on too many fronts or your resources will get very stretched.

I have just started my first full campaign also as the British. I know from past TW games that patience is a virtue, so I have taken my time. I have tried to build up my economy first, and the tech tree. I now have 6 gentlemen working on new technology in three different research buildings. I have taken out most of the Caribbean, and have now made ample gains in America. But I have not waged war with any European faction. I don't feel qualified enough to battle my European neighbours yet, so I'm taking my time and getting a feel for how the campaign works first of all. I'm absolutely loving it! Best £15 I ever spent.

I found sending ships to the various trade regions early on is a great way to get finances sorted. Just make sure you eventually keep a strong navy nearby for protection...

I loved this bit from the Chasseurs Britanniques descriptions:

"The French Royalist "Chasseurs Britanniques" in the British army, did not relish battle and often deserted at the first opportunity."

lol indeed. There are some rather witty comments and remarks in the wording of some of the events and descriptions of units and technologies thrown in the game.

I played the prussians on the hardest setting, after you get around 10 regions you can't lose.

My biggest tip, pee off the working class asap, move all armies out your capital, wait for rebellion and switch to rebublic.

Playing as British send your merchants ships out to trade routes asap. If you fancy nicking the odd region from France or Spain go for it and then ask for peace straight after capture as they usually agree and your left with the new region, result!
The American indians are right swines as they fight to the end and never make peace and are rock hard early if they get hand to hand.
Also try to get as many trade agreements and alliances in deplomacy screen as this can help out with cash and if you get attacked.
