Bit of both the overal campaign map is turn based but all battles are RTS (well unless you go for auto result option).

Does anyone know what other playable factions are available apart from the initial big 6?

The United Provinces (Dutch Republic)
The Swedish Empire

They say they still have to add a few more as unlocakbe minor factions (factions TBC).
