Hi,

I have an HP scsi array and it has an EMU module in it.

I can't find any information on what it is/how to use it. It has one RJ45 socket on it that says 'LCD only'

What does this mean? I saw somewhere it is to do with environmental monitoring of the unit? does that mean it gives temperature readings etc?

How do i use it? :)

cheers guys (sorry for my noobness :p )

Can you let us know which Array model it actually is? Is it MSA / EVA / P2000 etc?
I'll try and find out for you if you can let me know the above.

Sorry completely forgot to include the model

it is an

HP storageworks EK1502

when i googled that i could hardly find any information... but maybe my google fu is weak...

Thanks in advance if you can help!

No worries, just got in from work now and seen this. I won't be able to do anything now until Monday, but will keep an eye on this in case no-one else can find out for you

ok cheers :)

I would just plug it into my switch and see if i can access it via IP, but as it says 'LCD only' on the module, I don't want to if it may damage that switch or module... :S

Spoken to a couple of the storage tech guys at work, what you appear to have is a very old Compaq disk enclosure that would normally attach to something like an EVA controller shelf. It requires what is called a CANBUS cable that allows to you monitor and connect to other parts of the installation. They are not Field installable or configurable. It should be done by an HP engineer when setting up the whole array.

But to answer your question, it is for environmental monitoring as you thought, but it's a bit more complicated than it originally looked.
Hope this helps
