Hi

Was wondering if anybody is aware of some software (or hardware) that will allow me to resolved the following situation:
I moved into a flat with my g/f last year and lost my PC in the process for £££.

Now I have some money to spend I would like a PC to act as my complete home entertainment system. I want to be able to play PC games as well such as battlefield 3 in very high detail.

The limitations is that is has to look tidy (no cables everywhere) and be in the living room so I dont leave the g/f on her own as she gets bored/lonely.

So the 2 options I came up with were:
A high end gaming lap top that I can use anywhere, but then also sit down at the table to play BF3.

or

A PC sat in the corner near a table that I can set up every now and again (stick a 22" screen on the table and set up the keyboard/mouse) but then remote access it via my smaller laptop so that I can access all the content on the PC and also allow me to play football manager sitting on the sofa.

I would rather go for option 2 as this saves me a lot of money but do not know whether it is possible to remote access the PC without tremendous amounts of issues and lag.

thanks in advance

Anything VNC/Remote desktop is either going to disable your ability to run anything with 3D acceleration or be horrendously laggy.

Might be better looking into a monitor with wireless video senders/recoevers and a wireless kb/mouse with decent range.

Remote control is not what you want here, remote control = super laggy video/sound, you simply cannot play games on it, even card games would be tiresome on it. Remote control = good for doing a bit of clicking around and emails only.

If you just want to access files, like music and videos etc, then it's file sharing you want.

It's built into every version of Windows
