Hi Everyone,

Hope someone can help. I have a Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3 mobo and I have been running a RAID5 with 3 disks. The disks were a bit old and only 3Gb transfer speed. I've upgraded the disks to newer models which support 6gb transfer.

I have enabled Sata3 in the BIOS and all the disks are plugged into the Sata 3 ports however the Intel Raid Utility is still showing that they are connected under 3Gb/s

Is there anything else I need to enable?

Thanks
A

Are you still on 3 drives?

That motherboard only has 2 intel 6Gbps ports. If you on a 3 drive array then you'll be limited by the 3Gbps port that must be used.

What is the RAID is for?

Oh man I thought it was the other way around with the Sata 3 ports, crap :(

My PC is a bit of an all in one beast and holds a lot of data so I decided to raid it.

I might rethink the way I lay my disks out. Thanks for the info

Remember that RAID only protects from individual drive failure so plan your backups around that.
