Enabling Onboard Video Adapter

I recently rebuilt my PC to a smaller case, and made use of my Gigabyte GA-H97M-D3H motherboard.

I game on a 4K LED screen. In order for me to get surround sound through my AV receiver, previously I connected 2 HDMI cables - 1 from my GTX1080 direct to my screen, the other was sent from my onboard adapter to my AV reciever. I then extended the desktop which allowed me to have surround sound through my AV receiver, and 4K video to my screen. The reason for this, is that my AV receiver can only handle 4K at 30HZ unfortunately which is no good for gaming.

The issue I have with the Gigabyte board, is that it seems to disable the onboard adapter when using an external video card, so my above solution does not work. I have checked that it is enabled in the BIOS. Is there anything I can do with regards to this board?

My other option would be to replace the board with a Micro ATX and Mini ITX motherboard to fit my Fractal 804 case, but how would I know that the same thing wouldn't happen again?

I could buy a 4K/60HZ receiver, I have seen these in the £300 pricemark, but I didnt really want to do that unless absolutely necessary.

Currently, I am gaming at 1440P, which is no problem for my receiver at all.

Install the Intel drivers for the igpu.

And as long as the igpu is set to enable and not just auto you should have it working

Doesn't the 1080 also have an output you can run a second display from? The intel GPU should still work as mentioned but surely that card is capable of an extended desktop and ignore the internal? :)

It only has 1 x HDMI out, the rest are Display Ports of which my Panasonic sceen has none.

I will check on the Intel Graphics driver, I would expect I have installed it already but will take a look later on.

Mini display port to HDMI adaptors range from £2-£5, it'll beat the motherboard option if you don't get the IGP working :)

Never thought of using a adapter, so obvious :)

I have a EVGA 1080FTW, which has

Display Outputs: 3 x DisplayPort 1.4, 1x HDMI 2.0b, 1x DL-DVI

I will order in a DP to HDMI cable and see if I can send the audio by that method instead.
