I had a 2gb MKV, I've just muxed it using GOTsent.

The resulting file is a 500mb MP4. Only thing that got re encoded during the muxing process was the audio, As I had to convert the AC3 to something compatible with the 360. so it was converted to 2 Channel, from 6.1

Could 1.5gb really be accounted for in the 6.1 audio? and removing the subs?

The movie resolution is supposed to be 720p, I find it hard to believe an hour and 20 minutes can be 720p HD and only 500MB in size.

Indeed, I may have to get my money back.

As for handbrake I've downloaded it. Giving it a whirl. I was wanting to use something to remux though, rather than re-encode. 10 minutes vs 2 hours. ha.

I used to do it using YAMB, and something else a while back. but i've not done anything like this for a while.
