Encoding with Quad (Q6600)

I noticed one thing though, with convert x to dvd, a file that took 45 mins to convert on my athlon 3700+ now takes 10 mins to convert on my Q6600.

I've done the same as you mate, jumped from the San Diego 3700+ (Great chip btw) to the Q6600, I'll let you know how I get on!

I think it would be good to list video encoding software which utilises 4 cores.

Software which does not use 4 cores:
Videocharge, boilsoft dvd ripper, ulead video converter.

Software which uses 4 cores:
Canopus procoder.

Back again, well let me tell you, 12 minutes with my Quad, but I'm encoding XVID in virtualdubmod and encoding an XVID to DVD with WinAVI, my word it's quick!

Magix Photos on CD & DVD = 4
Adobe Premier Pro CS3 = 4
Riverpast Video Cleaner Pro 7.3.1 = 4
Sound Forge 9.0 ( yup does video as well ) = 4

After burning quite a few more movies I am beginning to notice a bit of a drop in quality using WinAVI(even with 700mb files) Convert X does take longer but I never see a drop in the quality once converted and burned
