Very interesting article I just came across, thought you lot would like to have a read. In a nutshell: Data is held in RAM while the computer is on. When the power is turned off the data held in RAM immediately vanishes. Well thats what we have all been told at least. Turns out some boffins have discovered that the data does not vanish *immediately* but hangs around in RAM for several seconds after power-down....enough time apparently for baddies to steal encrypted data.
