Encrypting an external drive?

Got an external IcyBox with 250gb SATA in for backing up to, but just wondering if someone can recommend me someway of protecting my data by password?

All my stuff on my computer is protected from my housemates messing about by my normal password, but it defeats the object if it's then all available on my external!

If you want to pay then get PGP Disk, if you dont, try Truecrypt.

TrueCrypt looks good, is it simple enough to use? Do I just put a password in when I use it on another computer?
