Hi guys, am i right in thinking that the law changed so that when i hit the end of my contract my bill should go down (something to do with the bill being higher to subsidise the phone). How do i make this happen or should it be automatic?

Try asking the company the company that supplies your contract....??

No wait sorry, I meant "Quick to the Internet"

Well you have made no mention of who you are with? And you think we have all read your contact?

I'm with ee, after you mentioned it I google and found something. I'd thought it would be automatic but apparently I may or may not have to go sim only (which is Strangley not that much cheaper).

No it doesn't to down, you will continue paying the same unless you drop it down to sim only, which you should.

Yep keep on top of them. None of these companies will voluntarily reduce your bill, as they’re mostly money grabbing. Beat you might get is a text to tell you.

02 do it automatically once the phone is paid off that's what happened with my wifes contract

Jeez who took a dump in your cornflakes?

Best option is to call them and ask about sim only deals if you want to keep your phone. If not just ask for your PAC code and find another deal.

It's quite handy and you can save unused data and use it the next month. That's who she's currently with now

I’ll give you some advice. Shop around for a better deal. Put a rolling monthly sim only sim in it and save an absolute fortune.

you have the right to cancel your contact, port your number to the new SIM card if you want too and then save an absolute fortune!

do not ask EE to save you money they will sell you something higher you have to shop around yourself. I know for a fact that EE deals on pay monthly (no contract) are pretty ok now compared to what they used to be.

I dropped onto a SIM-only deal when my contract was up, then paid cash for my next phone. Be wary though, if you're then wanting to start a new contract with the same provider they get a bit funny about porting your number across as there's no obviously posted method for you to do it. I got on a web-chat and was told to wait 7 days after activating the new SIM before contacting them and they'll port my old number to the new deal/SIM.

Yeah I do a little bit of work with Vodafone as part of my job, and its stupidly awkward to port your number to the same provider. They usually recommend porting to PAYG and then back again. Weird.
