End of contracts

Hi all,

Say you take out a 12 month contract. At the end of that 12 month, the phone becomes your own doesn't it?

In this case, should the provider unlock the phone to all networks for you?

Just a rumour I heard, wanted to confirm.

Yes the phone is yours, as it is if you upgrade your phone half way through your contract. I dont think they unlock the phone but i have known people who have had theirs unlocked if they take it to a retail shop of the network. Most phones can be unlocked for about a tenner at car boots and markets these days.

if you ask them two they will, Ive had my e900 unlocked from o2 for nothing so i confirm this

They will unlock your phone if you wish, though they are allowed to charge a small fee. Probably a safer option than using a market stall.
