double the lag for twice the displeasure aswell imagine using that if the servers were in america.

upto 0.5second input lag = epic fail

Yeah I don't see them being able to stream any kinda decent res/quality at any kinda universally playable framerate without lots of lag...

With multiplayer games online you don't tend to feel the command input latency as the client does some prediction, with this method its impossible to do so - your input would have to be uploaded to the server, processed and the frame sent back with the reaction to your input... even an 8ms delay would be enough to make it feel "rubber bandy" for any hardcore gamer and anything over 50ms would be noticeable to pretty much everyone... and I don't seem them being able to deliver <150ms (on average) for quite some time even under ideal conditions. Even those people with low pings to their data center would have 70+ms delay.

I think the only chance of this ever becoming a competitor is if the whole phoneline structure of the UK was ripped out and replaced with a far more reliable, faster and streamlined system.

My internet connection is fast - but not fast enough to stream HD content at a high enough bitrate for the HD quality they want. The compression would be terrible to get it to a useable stream.

1024x768 at just about acceptable quality could be streamed on any 4+Mbit ADSL connection... but your ISP would LOVE you for that :D... however you'd have to be happy to play on ~24fps but theres still the issue of input latency... you'd need ping times from you to the server of sub 4ms to make it not feel horrid...

So basically your streaming a video? Might be OK for slow paced games but its not going to work for fast pace shooters and it wont end consoles or PC gaming.

Well, at least we know Tetris will run perfectly. I guess the service will charge an excessive amount since we will be paying for the hardware on their end.:o

Not a chance. The latency and input lag is already horrible enough on certain games and televisions. Streaming that stuff, let alone at HD resolutions isn't even possible in many parts of the world, and the bandwidth ISP nazis in the UK would absolutely love this I'm sure
