just read on tomshardware that windows 7 as of Wednesday 1st April will start rebooting every 2 hours and expire 1 month later, 1st August.

can anyone else clarify this?

It's only the beta builds before the Release Candidate, anything after the RC will work until March 2010.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong?

There was a check in the RC on the version thats installed that prevented you from upgrading from the beta, however microsoft offered details on how you work around that check and all reports suggest it you will basically change the same file when going from RC to RTM

beta to RC was pretty painless, ill probably take the quick route and upgrade

Bugger I just remember I need to upgrade from 7077. I understand I can change a file and upgrade to RC with no real issues?

I hope so, I can't be arsed to format.

ahh rite so the Windows 7 BETA's will start rebooting every 2 hours from 1st July? not the RC?

thank god....dont have an extra £90 for a OEM Vista

Basically.

Tells you:

"Watch the calendar. The RC will expire on June 1, 2010. Starting on March 1, 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. Windows will notify you two weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns start. To avoid interruption, you'll need to install a non-expired version of Windows before March 1, 2010. You'll also need to install the programs and data that you want to use. (Learn more about installing Windows.) "
