Ending My Contract Early EE For Early Upgrade

Hi all, I need some advice! I was looking to do an early upgrade on my phone as my current S7 is having issues. I have got till April until my contract expires and I can upgrade 28th February.

I was looking around and seen a deal or 2 I fancy, so I looked on my EE and I seen that I was eligible for Early upgrade if I pay £94, which I guess is my remaining contract fee. So thought this was okay, but then I seen the iPhone I want, but it is a refurbish deal and a upfront cost. I seen the same phone at elsewhere which is free upfront and same monthly, but with 25 Gb data.

So I was wondering if I phoned up EE and said I want to pay up my contract early, will I still keep my number and be switched to a rolling contract so that I can go elsewhere and take out a new 24 month contract with the iPhone deal and just carry on?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Anthony

you should be able to phone them up, end early and pay for the remaining months which I assume works out at £94.

then once done get you phone number transfer code and when you get the new phone ask for a transfer..

As said, just ring them up, tell them you're leaving, ask for the PAC code, settle the outstanding balance and then set up your new contract, give them the PAC code to port your number and you're good to go.

Thanks all for the advice. I will give them a call. I am not leaving EE, my new contract will still be with them, it is just they are cheaper and offer a new phone instead. So I will still need a PAC code to take out a contact with EE?

Thanks again.

Unless it's changed then you can't port your number to a new deal on the same network. Your best bet is phoning EE, tell them you want your PAC as you're leaving (tell them you're joining Vodafone), they'll ask you why - tell them you're getting offered x by Vodafone and the best you're offering is this. They're very likely to make you a better offer than what they're currently offering you to upgrade and if you're feeling brave, reject whatever they offer you and you'll probably find they'll call you back in a day or two with an even better offer.

Yeah that or you could port your number to a PAYG and then port it back to EE on the new contract.

Mind I’ve never understood why you couldn’t easily re-use your number on the same network without the faff..

For this very reason I'd imagine. Networks would rather you deal direct with them than via a 3rd party.

@acharris As above, I assume you've found this better deal via a 3rd party - have you checked to see if you can upgrade direct with them?

It can be done, I went into an EE store where the guy offered a cracking deal and sorted it out there n then. Its a myth that numbers cant be ported within networks. Just need to tell them to do it.

Yep I always always always advocate threatening to leave. A better deal is always available and these deals exist simply because so many are happy to overpay on contracts
