Let me start by saying I know very little about this area of things, but this idea has been stuck in the head for the last few days.

In the energy obsessed world we live in, we are always looking for ways to recycle and save energy.

Now, on a personal level, im trying to improve little things i do, such as recycle etc.

I was also thinking about heat vs cold. In winter, my loft gets VERY VERY warm - would there be any way to harness this to do something useful?

As i said i know very little about this, but some way of storing this, using it to grow something etc?

Any ideas?

I'm not sure what loft setup you've got but if it's warm up there then heat is escaping from downstairs.

Have you got any insulation on the loft floor?

If not get some 8" (20cm) thick stuff at least. That way you won't be wasting heat warming up your loft in the first place - there's your saving :)

But if you have a loft conversion then i dunno, a tropical theme bar lol :p
