I'm thinking of ordering a 6600 and an x1900xt over the next few weeks and am wondering if my Enermax Noisetaker 485w will be up to the job.

Any thoughts? It'd be nice to save a few pounds if poss.

seasonics will be reccomended by everyone. i bet ya

Not really, an Enermax 485w will be fine with a 20-24pin adapter for the motherboard and a 4-6pin adapter for the graphics card. It isn't the ideal solution but nor is it a huge problem and it does save a bit of cash for the moment.

Mr. Waster is correct, I think. However, too much more kit in there will tip the scales in the other direction. Build it now and start saving for a Seasonic 600 watter. ;)

Cheers guys. There seems little point spending all this cash and skimping on the psu. If I will have to buy one eventually it may as well be from the start.

380w is enough power for a single gfx card setup..... with an adapter it'll be fine

485w is plenty. I got an Enermax Liberty 500w for my E6600+X1900XT rig, even though I have a Hiper 580w and Antec 550w in other rigs.

My 650w Xclio supply was making a horrible Buzzing noise, So i now use my original Tagan 480w Psu. Everything powers and runs fine and not a singal hiccup even when overclocking both Cpu and Graphics cards.....

Cheers guys, I think i'll stick with this psu and see how things go.

Just to make sure - it is the Akasa ATX 20-Pin to ATX 24-Pin Adapter Cable (CB-019-AK) i'll need? There's a 24-20 version and I don't want to get them mixed up.

//edit - i've just noticed there's an extra 4 pin cable joined to the 20 pin psu cable that's just hanging around in the case. Would I just be able to plug that in instead?

Yes, that PSU is an AX2.0 20/24pin, suitable for both types of mobo.

The enermax actually has more muscle than the others though :) it's not always the wattage but what's inside!
