Enermax Galaxy 1000w beeping!

Hello,

I have had this enermax Galaxy 1000w PSU for around 8 years.
1 month out of warranty the bottom fan (1 of 2 fans inside the PSU) decided to die.
I was left with a PSU that wouldn't boot. So i tried taking the bottom fan out, still wouldn't boot. So I found a 135mm fan that had 120mm mountings and bodged it together.

The PSU works fine however... every so often it will beep 3 times indicating a fan warning. Then just carry on. rarely happens, so im fine with it.

After installing a new motherboard and cpu the beeping has come back worse than ever!

It's beeping every 10 seconds and sometimes takes a 10minute rest.

I would like to know if there is any software that can change the speed of the fan, as i feel that an rpm drop of this fan is causing the beeping.

Or if anyone knows how to fix this please let me know. And in worst case, link me to a decent PSU (:

I guess there is a thermal sensor inside the PSU so there are a couple of solutions you can do.
1. Try to find another higher RPM fan to replace it.
Or 2. Try to cut the cover open and mod a big 120mm fan on top.
Or 3. well it is 8 years old. Time for a replacement dont you think?

As a former PM from them, your new system is too cold and your replacement fan spins too slow now. You gotta make it speed up (use a fixed RPM speed fan) to overcome the PowerGuard beeps. PowerGuard monitors the RPM and below certain speeds it assumes the fan is dead/dying.
And if the PSU is running, no need to change.

The psu is plugged into sysfan3 on my motherboard. Checking the rpm of sysfan3 in the bios states its at 1600rpm but i feel this is the speed of the exhaust fan and not the bottom fan in the psu. So I'm not sure if any programs will give me an accurate reading/control of this fan. Anyone know of any programs that will? I need to have another look at speedfan, only just installed it and it had no fans detected.

I have an idea of using a zalman fan controller I have spare and pushing the volatage manually for this fan, but that means taking it appart for something that might not work and this psu annoying to get into.

I may have fixed the issue, there is a 3 pin fan connector coming from the PSU that I have always connected to the motherboard, I have disconnected this, both fans in the psu are still running and no beeps yet. fingers crossed this has fixed the issue.

Okay so that didn't work, I have taken apart the PSU, found the fan that is causing the issue and cut the yellow cable, the psu beeps constantly on start up but after pressing the reset button there is no more beeping so far..

Both fans in the PSU are running :)

fingers crossed this has resolved the issue as a bodge before I buy a new PSU!
