Enermax LiqTech II TR4 360 RGB CPU Water Cooler Block red hot ?

Morning all


Past few days my computer seems to be lagging a little didn't think a lot of it but then today thought i'd check things over .

Noticed when i touched the waterblock it was red hot !

Temps were around being idle 68-71 and i know when i built this just before Christmas 2018 it was 30 degrees at most !

Looking for any advice please I've took the block and shook it around a little in case any blockages but still no good .

Thanks for your replies yes think the pump is dead it powered off as it got to hot. Couldn't really hear the pump moving in fact the pipes carrying the water were hot too. .

Got to send it back RMA but went over to ocUK to get a new one as i can't be without the system as i use it for work too .

So bough the same again got home and fitted it back to 28/30 now idling.

Going to speak to Enermax as not to happy and the fact i don't want to own 2 AIO as i have no need for them see what the say .


Would love a custom loop but water scares me hence i've bought a AIO one

With custom water cooling, stick to soft tubing for starting out, its easier to work with, the parts are more expensive compared to an AIO, but they are quality parts, you cant go wrong with a D5 pump, something like an EK X-Res Revo D5 is a brilliant pump combo, all you need then is fittings, tube, a block for your CPU and a Radiator, if you are on MM, theres plenty of deals always coming up on there, dont be afraid to nip up the barbs with a pair of pliers, and I do mean just nip them up, not too much, (without the ring attached), I see a lot of youtube videos that just do them up by hand and think you're lucky its not leaking, personally, I wouldnt trust it.

I use 7/16 (11.1/16mm) soft tube along with EK AFC 12/16mm Compression fittings.

Those extra 0.9mm make a very tight fit, and once the compression fitting is screwed on, I can pretty much swing off it without it moving.

The key to it all is for god sake, leak test, put some paper towels under the fittings, disconnect everything except for the pump, paperclip your PSU and let it run coolant around the system overnight, you'll know by the morning if you have even the slightest of drips, ive been water cooling for over 10 years now, I couldn't stand to go back to an air cooler and never had a leak or lost a component because of a leak (TOUCH WOOD)

Ive seen more AIO leaks and failures then ive seen custom water loop failures and leaks.

Thanks for your very detailed reply I have had a look around and part of me think it would be a better idea that the AIO i run now and another part of me shudders with the thought of putting water in my computer lol

I have a Phanteks Enthoo Primo Full Tower so would have plenty of room only want to cool the cpu not intrested in graphics cared as i don't play games more a business computer ruining Virtual machines . So looking at it i'd need a pump combo / tubing / fitings CPU block which would cover my thread ripper chip fully ( https://www.overclockers.co.uk/ek-w...r-cpu-water-block-nickel-plexi-wc-9rm-ek.html) and a 360 radiator .

As for coolant fluid anything stand out and is a lot better and keep things cooler than the rest ?

There have been lots of problems with these Enermax Liqtech TR4 CLCs.

Making and using H2O loops is not hard. Obviously build and test loop before starting computer. Run loop for at least several hours if not a day to be sure it's not leaking. Lots of guides and tutorials to building H2O loops. But be prepared to spend lots of money doing it. Most 1st time builders end up with quite a few spare parts after first build.

Oh that doesn't look to good at all reading that thread not holding a lot out for this new one i had to buy on saturday after reading that thread !
