Just had an Enermax Liberty go pop on me, only 2 month old :(

I’ve emailed them using [email protected] which i found via OcUK, then i looked on the Enermax website and this is the address that it says to use [email protected]

Do you think my original RMA request will be fine? i don’t want to confuse things by sending another request..

Absolutely no reason why you shouldn't contact OCUK.

Under the sale of goods act the contract of sale is with them as the supplier not with the manufacturer.

The product is less than six months old so is deemed to have been faulty when bought - full refund and you are entitled to ask them to arrange collection.

Thanks for the info, im not very clued up on the sale of goods act.

Hmm that’s annoying - i sent OcUK a web note yesterday and got a reply saying:

Please get in contact Enermax about a replacement they will be able to replace the item for you within few days.

Actually i am not bothered who deals with it, as long as the replacement is sent out quickly, i hope they can arrange for collection too because i don’t fancy having to pay for that.

Yep, no reason whatsoever why OCUK couldn't have replaced it the next day and collected the faulty one at the same time.

The only issue going to the manufacturer rather than the supplier is that they are not obliged to give you a refund or new unit, i.e. could give you a refurb.

Probably wouldn't in a case such as this, i.e. a PSU, but worth bearing in mind for other items, e.g. monitors.

I don't really know why OCUK seem to be so keen to move their responsibility over to the manufacturer for returns, they are the supplier, it is with them that the customer enters a contract of sale, not the manufacturer.

It obviously saves them time and money :( .

When I called to return my 1 month old (and already a replacement from previous RMA) Liberty 620w he said that a refund wouldn't be possible (I had bought a Seasonic M12 instead so didn't need a replacement) but it would be better to go through Enermax directly for a replacement as the turn around would be quicker than sending it back to OCUK.

roakes, you were entitled to a full refund under the sale of goods act. If they try to get funny, refer it to the office of fair trading and/or trading standards.
