Dunno if it's my screen or not Exception but they look very washed out and are quite noisy as well.

Edit: I can't really understand why I'm seeing that either as any I've looked at the EXIF and any I look at are all low ISO. Are they hugely cropped or anything or did you add grain in post processing?

Getting the same, so it isn't your screen.

Not sure I'm a fan of so much grain, really.

He adds the grain in post processing.

Raymond finds it ironic xD

kd

I wasn't aware that the OP done that as part of his post processing but in this case I can see Raymonds thinking. I know we have our personal tastes and styles but I look at the images and can see reasons why I upgraded from my 20D. It doesn't make any sense.

The all look awkward.. Grainy and overexposed . When i looked at them last night i was cringing looking at them . Also a lot of them seem to far away

Grain settings are a little bit in flux as I'm still getting used to 36mp + Retina display (everything looks half as grainy).

Updated images. The grain you now see, is to my taste. It may not be to everyones taste, but some people/clients love it.

Much prefer your re-edited ones to the original images you had up. No where near as flat and washed out and getting rid of the horrible grain made a big improvement. The original ones definitely weren't a good look.

^^^
Yeh, processing on this retina will take some getting used to, grain looks much more subtle on a retina, and also the screen (keeps) dimming when isn't plugged in even when I set it not to, so pictures look darker than they are hence the overexposure.

on a personal level these don't do nothing for me, nothing to do with the processing, more that the series seems a little disjointed ? but thats just me, as long as the client likes them thats all that matters.

Regards Simon

You need to be more selective when sequencing your sets, there are lots of very similar shots which means the best ones don't really stand out. The random stranger portrait set didn't help either (as did all the shots of street furniture), I was expecting the couple to interact with them or at least have a photo that involved them watching the band. I didn't see the previous set, but the PP looks fine from here!

Just a few quick thoughts.

delete the random strangers, when the client look at these they will think "WTF? Did I just pay him to take photos of these people?"

Same with photos of street furnitures. It isn't a personal project of your own for streets of Oxford, this is an engagement shoot, unless you have a photo of you chaining them up to the rails then leave out the photo of that sign for example.

Some nice ideas, some nice composition and some good ideas but not well execution, ala both inside the phonebox....I am sure it was funny at the time but it doesn't work for 2 reasons.

1 - its in the day, do it in the night with a remote flash going off inside it then it'll work a million times better.

2 - they look cramped and you can't even see if they are facing each other, better to have one outside, one inside with door open.

And FAR FAR FAR too many photos of them looking at the camera. Her facial expression is identical in everyone of them. Sometimes, NOT smiling makes a nicer photo.

Cheers RL.
Tbh She didn't stop smiling all during our meeting (shoot wasn't planned, but I had camera with me to do some street photography later). But yes I agree with you. As I'm shooting the wedding next week, I'll think about how best to approach it without killing any positive vibe. This is new for me, I'm used to having to strategically invoke emotional reactions to get smiles, it seems a bit strange having to do the opposite as that normally happens on it's own.
