Is the UK's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest -

It has become an annual television ritual: the UK’s humiliation at Eurovision.

Boy bands, pop flops, rappers and a former X Factor finalist have all bid for glory, only to end up with egg on their faces and the ignominy of being beaten by an Israeli transsexual or a Finnish heavy metal act.

This year, the brains behind the UK entry have taken a radical new direction. Step forward Engelbert Humperdinck, the 75-year-old crooner who last had a top 20 hit in 1972.

The man christened Arnold George Dorsey - but known to his admirers as The Hump - will carry the hopes of the nation in Baku, Azerbaijan, on May 26.

After years of failure with young acts, it is hoped that Humperdinck’s decades of experience will win over the 125 million viewers expected to tune in.

This is either insanity or inspired, I'm not sure which. :D

Talk about synchronicity, i was watching Eddie Izzard when i read this, AND the first response to this thread is by a poster with a signature that says Action Transvestite!

I should really stop finding things to distract me from work...

*Googles Engelbert Humperdink

Can anyone tell me why exactly we keep entering this horrendous cackfest each year?

I have no idea. The voting is stupid and most countries are in bed with neighbouring countries and give votes to each other. It's all political and biast voting because it has a country associated with it so the whole competitiion for having the best musical performance is somewhat flawed.

Haven't watched in quite a few years, but does Terry Wogan still commentate on it? His sarcastic commentary was probably the best part of the night!

I think last year was the first he didn't do, but I agree his analysis of the farcical episode is easily the best part of it, or at least it was.

I believe I watched it last year, however I was so wasted it may have been the year before :o

I also didn't realise Engelbert Humperdink was still among us, sorry Eng :(
