engine blown, new car needed this weekend!

The other day my micra engine blew after 121k on the clock. After replacing the gearbox, i'm not prepared to do anymore work on it so...I NEED A NEW CAR!

Having just bought an '02 plate Yamaha R6 i'm somewhat short of cash sop my budget is limited to £1000-£1300 so please do not recommend anything over that price or tell me to get finance, i only buy in full.

Please recommend a car that is:

1) Reliable (or cheap parts to repair, can do myself)
2) Economical
3) Low insurance

Fits the bill perfectly. 1.8 is ig9 and 2L is ig11, if you're old enough to have an R6 the deo will be dirt cheap insurance

Reliable, well specced, and common enough that you'll have no trouble finding one. The 1.8 has 40mpg mixed which is pretty decent, and you can squeeze a bit over 40mpg on the motorway out of the 2L if Fox is to be believed.

Not sure thats a good idea. Auction centres are great if you know what you are doing and have the time to do it properly.

With respect to this guy, it seems bikes are his thing not cars, and he's got a limited amount of time.

Local paper would seem best bet.
