Hi guys,

I was just driving home along a dual carriageway which is 50Mph to a roundabout where I change from 6th down to 3rd when it just cut-out before I had a chance to bring the clutch back up.

Thankfully it started again, no problems. It has never done this before has even given me a hint of wanted to break down or anything.

This afternoon I did take the original radio out of it and drove to next town to pick up an ISO connector for my new HU. I didn't disconnect the battery when I took the thing out or anything so could it possibly be anything to do with that?

Second question. Car has done 102K miles, I am thinking of getting it serviced, i.e. Spark plugs/leads, fuel filter, oil & filter. Would it be worth getting the valve clearances checked and adjusted?

Car is BMW E36 M3 Evolution - R reg.

Thanks

I used to have a Z3M with an intermittent Vanos problem which did this a couple of times!

Is your Vanos noisy?

Throttle body issue? Does it have PCV breather system which ends in the intake pipework prior to the TB?

Crankcase breather would cause a misfire not to cut out, the 3.2 Evo engine has a common fault with the Vanos unit.

Google it and it'll give you loads of information! I wouldn't worry about unless it becomes a regular thing or throw up an engine light.
