As title, I realise it is not a post about how fast or slick your motor is :o
But Rough idea of how much I could get for it.Not sure what i will do with it tbh,re conned engines are around £1000,van is a W reg but body work is in good condition
Do I sell as `needs new engine`or be better off splitting and selling various parts on the bay then scrapping what will be left?
Prefer to get rid off in one go for easy life
**** start to my week:(
Toyota Hiace Powervan 2.4 D or was till it went bang and something shot out of the side :D

If it was me I'd want to get rid as a whole... but it may not sell especially well with no working engine. - You'll get more money stripping it, but it's more hassle too.

I'd try selling it first, and if you just get stupid offers look at stripping it.

Cheers for the reply
Any ideas of what I should ask for it
happened on Monday morning so not in a huge rush to get rid of it has all my tools etc in atm, with the alarm on obviously .Just got back from buying a replacement van...ouch:eek:

eBay. Someone will want to put a V12 in it or something, it's full of nutters.

My Dad's best friend and colleague when he was my age had a Beford CF van with a supercharged Jaguar V8 fitted. Back when fuel prices were low though :p

Oh yeah it was my baby :)
Oil change @ every 5000 miles, with filter of course
Had a new cambelt at 45000,only at 79000 now.Bodywork is /was good minor rust in 3 places, surface only
I was hoping for it to see me to retirement, had it from brand new :(
Was doing about 40 mph then bang clang, pulled to side of road to see oil on floor and inside of engine housing.Towed it to my neighbours garage(trade garage and mechanic)
he had a look and reckoned it was beyond saving.
Been looking at a replacement engine but warranty is very short ,no guarantees that it would be reliable etc ,i had to go and get another van.
Got to have a reliable van for work.
Anyone got even a remote idea what it would be worth or advertise at?Please :)
Still having a look at parts prices to dismantle and sell as bits too,but as a whole would be easier of couse

thats mad. my friend's dad is a plumbing contractor, travelling far and wide and absolutely hates driving, hates traffic, abuses the life out of his vans. about ten years ago he switched to toyotas atfer a string of bad transits. he hasnt been able to make any of his toyotas miss a beat

sorry to hear about yours though and hope it works out ok

The later Hi-aces dont get a good rep tbh, the diesels anyway, held in the same regard as the Vito, ie bloody awefull.
