I am trying to complete a VIC form but cannot find the "engine number" on my car.

Rover 214i (Mk3)

I don't really know what I am looking for and where abouts it is.

Any ideas?

Got me wondering now :D

There is a bar-coded paper sticker on the RHS top of engine, but it's only a paper sticker.

Isn't the number also stamped on the rear window and several other places or am I thinking of a different type of code?

Brand new cars have this kind of info on the windscreen by the tax disk, an attempt at fraud prevention I think.

35 quid for a VIC inspection isnt it, I have a Cat C Iam trying to flog. It has a broken drivers door, apparently a dangerous write off lol

VIC is £36.

I sent off the fordms without the VIC on them.

When it comes to selling the car do i Have to tell the prospective buyer it was a Cat C write off? Or is there nothing on it's record after the VIC?

If they do a HPI check it'll show but then you can prove its been legally put back on the road.

I think I would just be upfront about it but the sale price will be less because of it even though its fine.

My Cat C write off car got picked up today and the guy is going to race it in Hot hatch racing :D He promised to send me pics which will make up for it selling for buttons :/

Cheers but I have submitted the forms without the engine number now.

I don't think it can fail the VIC. It's not a ringer so should be ok and I have pretty much finished all the repairs.
