Evening all,

If a car stalls and won't run because the EGR valve is stuck open because there are little tiny chunks of metal jamming it open (2-3mm chunks, definitely metal and not bits carbon deposits or anything), is there anything in the "loop" that can shed these bits of metal, other than pistons or valves?

Car isn't mine, it is a 2001 Golf 1.6 (AZD engine) if that's of any relevance.

Ta!

Yes it is, but you'd think it'd be blowing through from the exhaust section.

It certainly seems broken though!

Given where the EGR tends to be I'd think no matter what has caused the debris it'll have gotten far enough to cause all sorts of damage by now. Be interesting to find out the cause/whether it is indeed terminal though
