Perhaps not as dramatic as the title sounds but...

OCUK motor geniuses, i need your help

My 08 Ford Focus has a very intermittent fault - 2 or 3 times a year, the display will show 'ENGINE SYSTEM FAILURE - REDUCED ACCELERATION'. It goes into limp mode.

My OBDII reader showed P2125 and P2138 errors

P2125 - "Throttle / Pedal Position Sensor / Switch "E" Circuit"
P2138 - "Throttle / Pedal Position Sensor / Switch "D" / "E" Voltage Correlation"

Usually, turning it off then on again resets the fault and no problems.

2 years ago, that didn't solve it, but the internet suggested a faulty battery was causing a low voltage error. Got the battery tested, it was faulty, got a new one and the error was gone.

Until today - had the fault all day, no amount of restarting will clear it. I've had the battery checked at a garage, no problems at all.

Any ideas? Could the sensor have actually gone, despite all previous issues being voltage related?

Thanks!
