engineer installed and migrating

I have had adsl since 2000 and it was engineer installed as was common before 2002. I'am trying to migrate and while some tell me that it isn't a problem, many say that I can't migrate away from BT.

I have tried phoning BT, but after an hour and being given 5 different numbers I gave up.

Can anyone help?

you should be able to get a MAC key off BT to then provide it to the new company.

I have my MAC. I have phoned around and when I tell them I am engineer installed and not wires they say they I cant migrate to them, so I'm a little lost.

Take eclipse for example:

Please note: Eclipse is only able to provide migrations for customers who currently have a self installed ‘wires only’ ADSL service. It is not possible to migrate customers who have an engineer installed service.

hmm weird, i thought a engineer installed adsl would have been basically the same as wires only installs
guess the next option is to cancel the BT broadband and signup to whatever ISP you want to goto via phone or online via a mates pc.

Yeah it's strange. I can't believe I am the only one left with engineer installed adsl but a google search returns nothing helpful.

I can't even find out the difference between wires only and engineer installed adsl, apart from the obvious.

Thanks for the help.

Depends whether you get someone with a clue on the phone though.

Yeah I'm having better results phoning around the different adsl suppliers than I am with BT. BT keep giving me phone numbers to call that don't work. You would think BT could connect the call.

Again, thanks for the help, I'll try and find someone who can arrange a simultaneous migrate and regrade.
