Already been said toney isnt in the squad

I really cant be bothered with this world cup not feeling it at all roll on boxing day as previously said
Agreed.

Qatar is a stupid pick both in a footballing sense and politically. I haven't ever had such a lack of interest in a WC as this one.

Hang on, Maguire? Are you kidding me?

The issue with picking players for England is that you simply can't pick purely based on form and yet thats seemingly what people want. Football more than ever is a team sport and picking players who thrive in systems that aren't going to be used is stupid.

Southgate will play his usual formation of 7.5-2.5 and will play 5 at the back, 2 holding midfielders, a LM/LW who focusses mainly on defensive duties and a few players with a slightly more adventurous role. He knows who he wants for most of these roles.

He would have fitted in well due to being left footed if Southgate insists on this terrible 5 at the back formation.

Henderson, Maguire, Dier, Shaw, Phillips, Grealish, Sterling, etc etc all strange calls ups. Although I'm pleased Maddison and Wilson are in there, they ain't getting game time.

How on earth can you pick players who aren't playing club football, some aren't even match fit.

So happy that Maddison has made the squad, should be in the starting line up.

Shame Harvey Barnes hasn't made, he has been on excellent form for us.

To be fair no one questioned it years ago when Beckham, Rooney etc all had broken feet and were rushing back. I know the likes of Phillips aren't integral as they were but he always did well for England.

It's a dangerous path if Southgate think's he can just re-create the same team & performances that got us to the final of the Euro's.

There is a reason England haven't won a game in 6.

How is Shaw a strange call up? He's by far the best English left back and the second best one is injured.

Centreback options don't exactly fill me with confidence, a far cry from the noughties where we had to decide who to leave out from Sol, JT, Rio, King, Woody etc.
Probably Tomori should've been picked.

In terms of Forwards, Toney might feel aggrieved as Kane is the only Englishman to score more than him this season, and he's playing for a team in the bottom half. He's on 20 league goals since start of last season compared to 4 for Grealish (I appreciate Grealish isn't a striker, but Toney also has more than double the number of assists).

Toney is being investigated for alleged gambling offences. He was never getting in
