Goalkeepers: Jack Butland (Birmingham City), Joe Hart (Manchester City), John Ruddy (Norwich City).
Defenders: Leighton Baines (Everton), Ryan Bertrand (Chelsea), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Joleon Lescott (Manchester City), John Terry (Chelsea), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur).
Midfielders: Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Tom Cleverley (Manchester United), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Adam Johnson (Sunderland), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), James Milner (Manchester City), Theo Walcott (Arsenal).
Forwards: Andy Carroll (Liverpool), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham Hotspur), Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea), Danny Welbeck (Manchester United).
Tried to pick a starting XI but not altogether happy with what I've come with:
---------------Hart
Walker---Jagielka---Terry---Cole
---Gerrard---Carrick---Lampard
---Walcott---Defoe---AOC
-Terry hasn't been overly convincing this season
-Left of a forward three isn't necessarily the best place for AOC
-Not convinced Walcott is good enough but this formation doesn't give many options.
-Lack of height up front.
The idea with the above is that Walker and Cole provide some support in the wide areas. An alternative might be to play 4-4-2 with Wellbeck alongside Defoe and a more traditional winger like Johnson, meaning that Walcott and Lampard get dropped. The above formation is perhaps a bit negative against a side like Moldova.
No doubt plenty will say that Terry, Gerrard and Lampard should be cast aside now but there aren't too many staking a claim to be vastly superior in that squad, especially in midfield (Cleverley/Johnson haven't played enough this year, and while I rate Milner I'm not convinced he is the solution either). Could probably make a case for Lescott or Cahill and I wouldn't necessarily be against that.
