How the actual **** has Mings got into the England squad, he got dropped by Villa! I kind of feel the same about Maguire.

You’ve got at least 3 other centre backs in great form, conceding few goals and not making errors. If he’s going to always play defensive, at least take the best defenders

Certain players will never be dropped regardless of form, Kane/Maguire/Shaw are quite clearly evidence of this. England squads (bar meaningless friendlies) have always been about picking favourites, be that manager or media .

Mings is a horrible defender, how he gets a call up even when playing is a mystery to me.

The League 1 level fraud picks players based on reputation and name rather than form, something he tried to convince the nation he wouldn't do.

Bit like McLaren with Beckham. He came in, made a big point and dropped Rooney claiming he was going to always pick based on form and to try and show he was his own man but has then fallen into line of picking names.

From my own clubs POV, I’m a bit miffed. Ben White is far more in form than Mings and these two games would have been a great chance to introduce players like ESR to the senior squad.

Still, keeps em fresh for the prem.

I felt the same way when White was at Brighton, from what I saw he offered a lot more.

The problem is that we're not there to see how the players gel in training. Club and international football is apples and oranges and I don't necessarily think skill on one side directly translates to the other. I will admit that the lineup is a little baffling, but it's up to them to prove us wrong I suppose. I'll be tearing inti them as much as anyone if it goes wrong.

Yep I get that to an extent.

Some England players have been put on this pedestal and people think they are better then they actually are. Mings is one of them.

I wouldn't say he's necessarily been put on a pedestal, but he's definitely an odd choice given the options available and I say that as a Villa fan. I love him, but I wouldn't pick him based on club performance if that's all it came down to.

Problem with England selection Vs club form, is that players build trust with the England manager is tournaments, and even if they are struggling with club form will be selected in the future because of said trust.

It's annoying to see such good young players get overlooked and old hands play terrible for their club and get the nod. I don't think it will ever change.

The Ming's selection is particularly baffling for me, especially when you look at the likes of Tomori, that guys currently the best English centre back on form.
