possibly the worst england midfield since Carlton Palmer was capped

Form it seems doesnt count again otherwise why pick Andros Townsend

If you're going on about form then there's no point singling Townsend out, there's a plethora of players there who should not be in the squad based on that notion.

And why Wazza is cap'n is beyond me.

Nice little england squad, we need to give more of the younger guys a chance to see what they are like.

If you don't have a standout candidate for captain, you just give it to the best known player, and/or the player who is generally perceived as your best player.

It's hardly a shock.

Colback has actually been pretty decent to be fair. Would like to see Ashley Westwood looked at in the near future. Very tidy player and feel could work well with Wilshere and Henderson.

It's all very well putting the likes of Delph in there but Hodgson's stoneage tactics will just stifle any ability half these lot have. Delph is good for quick counter attacking football, something that England are useless at.

With the ginger Pirlo and English Xavi we should be incredible.

In all seriousness, on paper playing 4231 with Hendo, Milner, Wilshire, Sterling and Ox in midfield isn't awful...it won't work though.

Yeh... or you just give it to your most experienced player.

Welbeck and Milner baffle me. When was the last time either of those had 90 minutes in the premier league?

Hart or Cahill? they will actually do a captains job.

Rooney can barely manage himself.

GK as captain isn't everyone's cup of tea.

The fact Danny Rose can get in the squad is deeply concerning - aside from a screamer against Arsenal on his debut(?), I can't remember him doing anything of note in his entire career.

This cracks me up:
