Englands World Cup Failure

@Gustov: I'd go Cesar over Casillas but that's just personal preferance, not sure about King, probably go Vidic, and then Drogba instead of Rooney (thought it pains me to say it...)

For a player next season or a longterm swap? Obviously the fact that Gerrard is 30 years old you'd be looking for a long term replacement but if I was picking a player to win me a game tomorrow, I'd take Gerrard over him every time.

Same with Lamps

I wouldn't swap any player in the world for a player who scored 28/9 goals last year and got 17 assists.

As a long term swap, I'm not much for short term aims. I tend to look at teams and players to build for the future, not just for tomorrow. I like and rate Gerrard, but given his age and his confidence levels after the last 12 months. I would definitely swap him for Schweinsteiger if we were talking permanent change.

I'd have Schweinsteiger at Wednesday over our current midfield beast O'connor :)

Schweinsteiger just shaves it to be honest ;)

Yea but when you're talking about players of that quality it all comes down to preference. There's not exactly a right or wrong answer. :)

Really? Ignoring the fact he's scored a whopping 32 goals in 304 games for a struggling Bayern team compared to Gerrard's paltry 132 goals in 532 games for a multiple title winning Liverpool team, Schweinsteiger performs on the World stage so he's obviously the better player.

Fair enough, not sure how relevant that is to this arguement though :p

Gerrard has won the title? By title I'm presuming you mean the PL.

I also think it's harsh to say Gerrards less of a player because he doesn't perform on the world stage.

Seriously, you're not going to get much out of Gerrard playing him on the left.

He's being sarcastic :p

Schweinstieger in a dominant Bayern side (in a poorer league too I might add) is being massively out scored by Gerrard in a struggling Liverpool side.

edit: Gustov you're the most gullible person on these forums :D

Woooooooooosh

Sorry I thought it was obvious considering we're talking about the ability of 2 (or 3) players in a game that was played yesterday :p ;)

Not to me at 1am :) All I read was would you swap them, not would you swap them for yesterday. If we are talking would we swap them for yesterday then I would swap all of them as they won :D

Gerrard in his pomp was far superior to Schweinsteiger but not now. Lampard is more limited, for what he does he does it better than Schweinsteiger but Schweinsteiger can do more i.e. beating a man or playing one touch to retain the ball hence why he is probably better at international level where there is more emphasis on adaptability.

Schweinsteiger wasn't even getting a game at Bayern not long ago when Klinsman was in charge, it's only 'fairly' recently he has been playing regularly when he got switched into centre midfield.

Did someone actually say Ramos was world class? I must be watching a different Ramos, he is the Glenn Johnson of Spanish football - ok not that bad but he really cant defend for toffee. Pique is by far a better defender.

One is a full back (naturally) and one is a CB, can't really make comparisons but yea I agree, Ramos is far from world class

You might just be out of your depth.

You're right, I lack the skills to make sense of what you're talking about.

First it was that England has the 2nd best players in the world, then only two of them were world class, then it was all about potential ability and not real ability...

You're just a deluded England fan in denial. That's about it.
