Englands World Cup Failure

I don't buy this " our players are rubbish and are only made to look good by foreign players".

Roney played fantastically for Man U this season and thats with a midfield that was often comprised of Giggs, Scholes, Carrick, Nani and a defence of Ferdiand, Vidic, Brown and Evra with him being backed up by berbatov.

Let us not forget that John O'shea and Gary Neville were also often a part of the team.

So basically Rooney was only any good because he played with Berbatov, Nani and Evra??

Rubbish and you all know it.

The real point is that Man U work well as a team, whereas England don't. There's no awareness of each other within the team, no organisation. People were put in the wrong positions, were running all over the place in and out of position, bunching up and congesting the middle and leaving gaps at the back, passing into voids because they weren't thinking of where the rest of the team was.

There's no team there, just a bunch of kids chasing the ball.

The Players aren't good enough!! Yes they look good in the premiership with all the foreigners around them but in reality they are extremely average

Pfffffttt If you say foreigners make the English players look good then foreigners make the foreign players look good too, so really, every single player in the premiership is a useless slug, who is made to look good by all the other useless slugs who make it so easy for them to score??? Stupid theory

English players are good players... They were totally ripping the German defense apart for the 10 minutes before half time... They just played badly the rest of the time. It's just too many players having too many bad games too much of the time... Why this is, well if Capello doesn't know, how can we know?

Oh yes i agree totally with that. We don't work well as a team at all.

But this "surrounded by amazing foreign players" rubbish is....well.. rubbish.

Did I just hear that right - they were all tired so thats why they were garbage. Awww diddums. WTF they should be so up for this they should be playing their hearts/lungs out on the pitch. So he is saying they just went through the motions. The other night I watched Japan and I was cheering them on. They ran their arses off and were trying trying trying and thats what really impressed me.

I would love to see the fans play a full season in the Premier League without a break, not to mention the Champions League and the other competitions throughout the competition to eventually take part in the World Cup at the end of the season, i'm sure you would be tired after all of that. The FA might as well get the common fan as the manager of England and see what they know about managing a football team in a major competition whilst they stroll around on the touchline with a beer belly telling the players to put more into the game the same way they put a lot of effort into their own life whilst lifting up a pint and spitting at the tv/fans infront of them.

At risk of pointing out the absolute bleeding obvious, we're not professional football players. I'd quite like to see them sit at a desk and do tax computations all day, and see how many they screw up. Is that a fair comparison?

Tell you what, how about we consider how the Germans managed to cope with playing in the World Cup after playing in their league all year? Or maybe the Argentinians, or the Brazilians, or the Spanish, or any one of the other teams at the world cup that vastly outperformed the English?

Well no it isn't. The setup for their club sides are superior than for the England team. Lampard's game is immensely better when next to Ballack or Essien. Rooney's game is better when surrounded by Fletcher, Nani, Valencia etc. Gerrard plays in front of Mascherano and Lucas and usually with the very hard working but generally able Kuyt. When they play for England the quality that surrounds them is weaker. The point is there's usually a lot of technical ability around them, something we all know English players lack. When you then try to put out a team that as a whole hasn't these abilities a good chunk of these English players are now stepping down into an inherently weaker side. It's unsurprising they don't perform. What is surprising is that it's taken this long to be spanked. Going out twice via penalty shoot outs has helped mask the issue.

Typical English attitude to be honest. Always looking for excuses when things go wrong.. As well paid athletes, it's their job to stay fit and on top of their game at all times.. This includes off season.. When you think of the sacrifices and hard work that the likes of say Kelly Holmes has to go through to get the results she wanted why do footballers think that they can have their cake and eat it without putting something in?

To be be honest, putting on the England shirt should be enough incentive to perform at their very best despite being at the back of a full season..

I have no sympathy for players who live the playboy mansion lifestyle yet fail to deliver on the pitch.

The thing is, a lot of people constantly put office work as superior to exercise, yet the majority of people frown upon doing exercise because they have to put more effort into it than sitting at a desk meeting certain deadlines. I sit at a desk for my job, fiddling with media related software and that doesn't compare to the intensity of exercise when your pushing your body to it's full potential, risking the chances of injury to occur which the majority of critics can't even accomplish, i can't even imagine how hard it is to constantly try and be in peak condition throughout the year whilst the expectations of a nation sits on my shoulders expecting more than i give them.

Yes, it is an english response because, surprise, surprise, i am english.

None of them would play. ;)

And therein lies the problem. These players are not interested in playing for their country, they only want the money because they're greedy. So is it any wonder they show no sense of urgency or hunger to win. As long as these footballers (lol footballers) have that attitude, we might just as well not bother to keep an england team.

As already said, all the money they earn playing internationally goes to charity... They don't pocket it

So I've read. Proof? How do we know none of the players keep any of the money they earn? Regardless, I honestly don't believe they're particularly hungry to win for their country, not as much as other countries are at any rate.

oh also, not sure if anyone has said it yet, but I can't check through 12 pages of misery to find out...
WE SHOULD HAVE TAKEN THEO!*

Is Rooney's job 200 times harder than mine? I doubt it, yet he gets paid 200 times as much as me, at least.
