If you look at the players who have been scoring in the world cup.

None of them play for a premiership side.

The only 2 that have done well is Donovan (who isnt even a premiership player he was just on loan) and Tevez who Manchester Utd didnt think was worth £30 million.

Van Persie who is the Netherlands lone striker has only scored 1 goal.

Torres and Rooney both scored none even the they played up front in all games.

Players from the spanish league seem to be doing best.

Villa, Fabiano, Forlan, Higuain.

The premiership needs better strikers.

On the other hand you could say the Premierleague is so tough that all the players are burned out by the world cup. I don't think the fact that prem players havent been scoring proves anything.

the guys get adequate rest. is not as if they play football 24/7.

they get at least 3 days off per week and on the days they do train its only for a couple of hours not a full 10 hour shift.

do the players in other countries not train as hard or play as many games?

weakest excuse ever is saying that players get tired, or are tired from playing an extra match during the week. that fat comedian ran 10 marathons in 10 days or something, now he has the right to say he is tired on the 11th day.

Eddie Izzard, and it was more like 48 marathons in 54 days I think.

OMG WTF? i knew it was a big achievement but couldnt remember it exactly off the top of my head.

see if he can run 48 marathons in 54 days.

then the england team dont have a leg to stand on. they cannot use tiredness as an excuse. especially since they get adequate rest between matches and training sessions.

i hate it when people say the players are tired from playing 3 matches in a week, running about for 45 minutes (with constant breaks at throw in's, corner's, free kicks, subs, etc) with a 15 minute break in between.

these guys are professional athletes, if it was that fat idiot who thinks hes funny "corden" doing it then yeah he might get tired after 10 minutes.

on the other hand zanetti who is 36 still has the pace to run flat out for 90 minutes every week and win the champions league and serie A, maybe the players need to stop drinking and smoking if they cant keep up with him.
