I'm talking about the people on these forums who consistently, and ignorantly talk about and make suggestive comments about the illegally downloaded xbox games they have aquired. You've made your point ok! Give it a damn rest! All you're managing to accomplish is getting threads deleted...and that's it. No one is impressed and no one cares that you have a game a few days earlier, but they do care when perfectly good and interesting threads get deleted because of your incredible inability to bite your tongue.

What does surprise me though is the mods and dons that don't actually do anything constructive about it and instead just delete entire threads. How is that stopping people posting about these things? The people who are sticking to the RULES are the ones losing out.

They are all reported and we also know who has modded consoles (not a problem), but we're also aware of the people who consistently flaunt this.

What's the difference? Unless the rules have changed recently then talking about games that aren't released is talking about warez is it not?

If a mod or don can clear this up i wouldn't have to make threads like this. What is and isn't allowed? I'm pretty sure i know the answer, but the lack of enforcement of the rules here (but simply deleting threads instead) puts doubts in my mind.

Either allow it or don't...just don't have a middle ground where people post what they want and then everyone else has to suffer the consequences.

I'd doubt you're one of the ones in question.

Games can only be talked about the day of release (or 1 or 2 days before allowing for early delivery). It's presumed (sometimes wrongly) that any game talked about before this is a copy rather than Import.

It's aimed at some people who do flaunt this however, but I'd feel it a little unfair to name names on here.

Seems like a stupid rule,

I have Ace Combat here which i got when i was over in Miami and its not out in the UK - does this mean i cant discuss this?

Pretty pathetic, and talking about the game in no way means one is talking about piracy - just because ill give my opinion on Game X doesnt mean im saying "well to download it go here, do this do that"

Bread + picture of game used to do the trick for that situation, or for peeps who got the game early.

Stupid or not, the rules are there. They get broken and threads get deleted. So yes, until there is some clarity maybe you shouldn't talk about it.

I can't answer the question about the game you got in the US, but it used to be a rule that you had to show proof of ownership etc? Wasn't this all to prevent OcUK getting in trouble? I know it has a very small chance of happening, but that's what was said.

It's an annoying rule, I agree. There are similar all over the forum such as Box Office/General Discussion where you aren't allowed to talk about TV shows televised only in the US, before it's been on TV here.

It's an old rule where you are recommended to take a photo of the box, disc and manual. Personally I wouldn't be against talking about them in a correct spoilered thread (as opposed to the official one with people ruining the story), but currently the forum is running on a lot of rules which have existed for many years.

I dunno, all seems a bit silly to me to discuss games - i understand a harsh stance on the piracy side, the hows and wheres. But the actual game being discussed...

But alas, rules are rules :)

Ok this may seem a little obvious but not everybody lives in the UK and uses these forums, I live in Vancouver BC although I am from the UK and have used OcUK for many hardware parts in the past.
Does this mean I am unable to discuss games when we know the North American release dates and we know that certain users live in North America?

Unless you have phot evidence to proove you have it

shouldn't be allowed to talk about the content of a game until it's official release date in the UK (as OcUK is a UK based company). simple as that. anyone in breach of this should be banned for good.

pirates are scum, (and no, i don't mean the "har haarrr me hearty" type of pirate).

With respect SiD, I agree on this, but I still have a bitter taste in my mouth when I was accused with the Forza2, despite posting a picture of a perfectly legit version with the PAL sticker over the Asian sticker!!

But I do agree with TriedAndTested, it's wrong, utterly wrong. But in this day and age, while we DO know 100% some people have copies/modded consoles, there are also a few people who 'claim' to have it to appear all flash and ****-sure of themselves to appear cool and clever. How does one seperate the wheat from the chaff on this?

And likewise there are one or two genuine members (again, NO names mentioned) who will get legit copies because they work in a distribution centre, know someone who works at *competitors*, are official reviewers of the product, or have purchase a region free edition over the net.

Big area which I don't think is quite black and white to enforce some strict rules.

Agreed - the har haarr me hearty types rule :p

Lets all get our pitch forks and hunt em down! **** it burn them at the stake!
A hell of a lot of folk here like to hear from those that have imported games just to see what they play like. Some of your need a jumbo pack of twisty knickers for xmas.

It's not big and it's not clever.

Surely spending your money on the game rather than freeloading should be considered more brag-worthy.
