Well, for the 3rd or 4th time this year the 206 is in the garage for something other than a normal service.

Last time it was the Head Gasket, this time its just started up like a tractor.

Anyway, as soon as it's fixed I want to trade the horrible thing in.

I'm after something for upto £5.5k, around the same engine size or insurance group as my 1.4l 8v Peugeot 206 and it needs to be somewhat reliable!

I have 0 NCD so nothing to exciting I'm afraid, unless it's a 600cc turbo beast!

I'm not really sure what I want however... Something a little different, but normal suggestions too I suppose. Just nothing French!

daihatsu cuore avanzato tr-xx r4 turbo - 4wd, 660cc turbo @91bhp, weights ~600kg 0-60 in 7.9, 0-30 quicker than pretty much anything ;)

wouldn't really recomend one for day to day long commutes, but as a town / fun car its a right hoot!

The Focus is high on the scale as I regard them as one of the most reliable in its class. But at the moment I'd like something just a little different.

I'd love a Cuore, but they're quite rare in that spec!

I'm actually interested in something I can throw my two Labs in the back of without them being too cramped. I dunno if an Impreza or 3 series would be insurable however. 21 with 0 NCD.

Or there's always the MX5 route, but the insurace thing pops up again.

I really wanted to wait another year and save up a bit, but I'm fed up of being out of a car and out of pocket. It needs to go asap.

Another vote for the Focus here.

1.6 is a pretty good way into it, pretty nippy whilst still being a cheap car to run. The 1.6 zetec for example is only ins grp 5 :O

i would advise against chucking dogs in the back of a mx5, the RSPCA proberbly wouldn't be too keen on that... and yer you'll pay through the nose on insurance for one :(

you get the occasional avanzato up on the bay once in a while but there weren't many brought into the uk, let alone many good condiditon ones around so best to give it a pass unless your a real enthusiast for them :)

the focus is a nice allrounder, well built and good to drive (for a family hatch) - proberbly your best bet unless you want to go larger

No reason why you can't insure a 3 Series at 21 with 0 NCD. I can insure a 530i at 22 with 0 NCD.

Ah but there is a difference between being able to pay it, and wanting to pay some silly price. :)

Out of interest, how much will your insurance jump after the claim and the loss of the NCD?

(You got the car back yet?)

£200 extra, get it back Monday. I think the reason why it isn't that much more is becuase it was due to go down quiet significantly next year whereas now it wont :(
