Enough power from this amp?

Hi, I lookin at gettin some HIFI speakers for christmas. I wouldn;t be maxing them out so would a 500Watt amplifier be enough for 2 330Watt speakers?

ratings RMS or PMPO?

make and model of speakers and amplifier would be helpful as well. its not a simple question of matching 'wattage' on them.

If its 500watts rms, which i very doubt then it will be a pretty huge amp possibly made from a giant heatsink and/or with fans on. Its its car audio and PMPO then a 500watt amp will be fine.

I drove some 75watt (per channel) speakers with a 20watt amp for years

Just in perspective, my housemate has a 150watt line 6 amp. It stands at around 4 foot tall (so bigger than my grandma!)
