The Steam Next Fest demo will probably be ended shortly after I post this but I liked it and yes it reminded me of Valheim. The building will have more depth, though it could be a bit fiddly in the demo. You can dig underground too so that's going to please the home makers out there.

I built a starter hut but did end up spending a bit more time adding some details. You can add NPCs to your home so I ended up with my personal Blacksmith in the basement forge :)

I was running on my 2nd system (5700G + 3060 Ti) attached to a 1080p 43" TV but it wasn't tearing despite the 60Hz display. Had to leave FSR2 on to avoid bad grass shimmering etc.

Bot bad for an early demo.

Surprised there isnt more interest in this!

Launch today, but my Zotac 4090 took a dump and is awaiting testing to be replaced :(

Been waiting since early to get access but not released yet. Twitch/X page doesn't help!

"We're Keen Games, an indie studio based in Frankfurt, Germany. Enshrouded is now available in Early Access on Steam and GeForce Now!"

Now available.

So funny been waiting for ages to play and the first thing I find is an invisible door bug exiting the first chamber. Not sure if just re-starting or changing the display settings fixed it but got out eventually :)

There's fairly typical quest based gameplay in here but I'm going to play with the build mechanics more than usual. The build system is a bit weird and cumbersome as the alignment doesn't always work how you think.

However you can do a lot of fine finagling which you'll either love or hate. As you place individual blocks the walls or roof pieces change shape and sort of meld together. So as you place roof sections the roof ridges form as you go along. Possible to remove individual blocks after to fix any weirdness.

There are regular hot fixes and a list of bugs to fix but one word of advice.

CREATE A BASIC RAKE WHEN AVAILABLE!!

The option can disappear not long after and the following scrappy rake needs it.

When does that quest become available? I’m 4 hours in and just been given the quest to find the hunter.

I’ve gone against my ‘norm’ of not getting early access games. Glad I did, really enjoying this one. Haven’t had a single bug so far, I know the map isn’t fully open as it’s EA, but honestly, I doubt I’ll ever need MORE map for my play style.

Enjoying this one.
May have been around that time but it popped up in a message that it was available but I ignored it as I was more interested in adventuring. Only later after getting more resoures I couldn;t find the rake option.

Search came back as a common bug.

I recommend this simple re-shade mod to reduce the brightness in the game.

Very easy to extract the ini file to the game root. Install the re-shade program and just select the re-shade file during the install.

Is anyone playing this single player?
Similar to Valheim I played through as a single player. In Valheim I built outposts near the next boss. So far in Enshrouded I've stayed amongst the rocks near the start area cliff edge.

I've tried to balance the build and adventure so I can discover some base additions and then add an expansion with the new discoveries.

Not sure if it's been patched yet, but make sure to craft a rake once you unlock the recipe as the recipe likes to vanish and this prevents you from crafting more down the line.
I initially ignored the rake when it appeared then couldn't make the scrappy rake as a result. Around patch #6 I regained the ability to make the basic again so hopefully fixed now.

44 hours in and I'm most of the way up the map and have a fairly built out base with some farming going on too.

I have been running out of water since though as it's used for the above and potions plus cooking. Try not to use it all for stamina boots early on.

95 hours in and I'm still unlocking blocks, armour, recipes etc.

I do have a break from the quests to add another building to my compound as I find new materials. Bit like Icarus you end up running around your various stations and crops catching up with production.

Far beyond early access just needs the bugs and some balancing to have a complete game. I tend to only die from misadventure.

I downloaded the BETA nVidia App as I wanted to try the RTX HDR with enshrouded. I tried it on the previous driver version via a hack but it just ground the game to a halt for some reason. Now with the official support in the App it works so much better than the Windows 11 Auto HDR. Worth a try if you have a HDR monitor.

I did post this before but I can't play Enshrouded without a ReShade to get rid of the terrible contrast (similar to Starfield). I can show the side by side benefit of that by simply toggling the ReShade on and off via the Home key interface. My monitor actually lightens it a bit more as I have the HDR affect enabled as well.
