Entering Cheats on Sims2

i;ve got sims 2, university and am loving it to bits, so is my gf, but she wants to cheat her ass off so she can make some sweet ass house and then live life without a cae of money, trouble is the command to bring up the cheat console isn working.

We have looked on man sites and apparently it is the same as in sims1, which is CTRL + SHIFT + C, but this does nothing, on none of the screens, e.g. the living sims tab thing, the furniture etc tab, the house design tab, the options tab etc etc.

anyone know how we get this to work? do we have to change the setting somewhere to allow the cheats to work?

its a thin bar at the top of the screen

nope defiently not missed it, i'e looked so so many times, and have even tried typing in the cheats once i have hit the command but still nothing at all. Any ideas?

yep i think they are fully patched up, it downloaded stuff when i installed sims2, then tried again when putting university in but that said i am fully up to date so did nothing.

My gf was exactly the same and i seem to remember having a few troubles with it, i think you have to be in the actual game, if you're only in design mode or before you've assigned a house for your family the cheat console wont come up.

Its something like that.

yeah it's wierd that all she wants to do is build a house then cheat so that she can buy it and see what its like having people living in it.

anyway we havwe tried the cheat in the main game, like when your plauying with the sims and can see their wants etc but still nothing
